A lecture-workshop to familiarize musicians with the language of contemporary music.
The lecture will include a brief presentation of the evolution of music from the early 20th century to the present day, while the workshop will focus on new playing techniques and the most prevalent structural tools used by contemporary composers. Participants will be invited to take part in group improvisations with the dissonArt ensemble.
The aim of the lecture-workshop is to encourage and cultivate personal motivation in the participants as far as their engagement with contemporary repertoire is concerned, through an understanding of the language and function of contemporary music creation. To actively participate, participants should bring musical instruments with them.
Instructor: Lenio LIATSOU, pianist – postdoctoral researcher at the University of Macedonia.
