Cyprus New Music Festival has the mission of contributing to the diffusion of contemporary classical music in Cyprus. Since its establishment in 2011, the festival acts as a vehicle for promoting the work of Cypriot composers, presenting the various trends of today’s contemporary music creation. Hosting concerts with well-established musicians and talk sessions with the composers themselves, it allows the local audiences to connect with contemporary music and its creators.
The 9th Cyprus New Music Festival includes four concerts, taking place from the 19th to 22nd of November at Kasteliotissa Medieval Hall in Nicosia.
Admission to all festival concerts is free upon online or telephone booking. Due to the emergency measures announced for preventing the spread of Covid-19, the total number of attendees will be kept at 50 persons per concert. All concerts will be broadcasted live (web streaming) via Cyprus Music Information Centre’s YouTube channel.
The Festival is organized by the Cultural Services of the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Centre of Cypriot Composers and the Cyprus Music Information Centre. Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (RIK) and Politis newspaper are the media sponsors of the festival.
